Have you switched?

As a general rule, your toothbrush or electric toothbrush head should be switched every 3 months. Heres why:

  • After 3 months the bristles will become worn and will not be as effective at removing plaque
  • As the bristles become worn they are more susceptible to harbour bacteria and fungus
  • Excess bacteria can lead to dental problems such as gum disease, decay and may result in halitosis (bad breath)
  • Damaged or worn bristles can be more abrasive on your gums, leading to inflammation or recession

We also advise that you change your toothbrush after you have had flu, cold sores or other illnesses to prevent re-infection.

Top Tip: Use the seasons to remind you when to make the change. Autumn = new toothbrush!
